On the 12th of August, 2020

the Saudi Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT)

hosted their first Tech Champions awards ceremony virtually on Mimic Stage receiving the most number of views in the region reaching to over 170,000 viewers in the first hours of the event broadcast. The event featured keynote speeches from His Excellency, Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of MCIT, and CEO of Social Development Bank, Mr. Ibrahim AlRashid, an MC hosting the show through green screen technology, media showcased from angel investors and vertical owners, testimonials, Thank you word to the program’s success partners, and an award ceremony for 10 of the 50 champions in Technology Entrepreneurs.

Tech Champions

is an entity developed and governed by MCIT in partnership with Social Development Bank for the purpose of encouraging technology innovators in Saudi to blossom and grow providing them with the right tools and support throughout the journey with the assistance of the program’s unique partners from the private sector and semi-governmental sector. The competition focuses on five main sectors; e-Commerce, Health, Hajj & Umrah, Industries & Smart Cities, and Sports & Entertainment.

The event

was hosted Live on it’s first year on Mimic Stage broadcasting on MCIT’s Periscope, Twitter and Vimeo. Mimic is a product developed by Eventagrate Software & Technology with the purpose of providing a virtual platform to host events, exhibitions, conferences and sessions accommodating today’s restriction on physical events. Throughout the planning period of the Tech Champ event, Eventagrate team worked hand in hand with MCIT to ensure perfection in the final event delivery. Several rehearsals took place to fine tune the technical aspects along with the visuals of the event through its agenda. Mohammed Almosa, the MC of Tech Champions Awards Ceremony, joined the event through the chrome screen technology that was set up and delivered physically in collaboration with DICE Marketing.

Technical rehearsals

took place beforehand to ensure quality of the dialed in speakers and that all connections are fitted to the event. All design and technical aspects of the event was fully managed Live and remotely with a team of 10 people including designers, call managers, technicians, stream assistant, show caller and project manager. The broadcast was done Live from two locations - Dubai, where the control and broadcast crew was, synching with Riyadh, where the green screen studio and MC were located.

The event ended with an awards ceremony where each of the 10 tech champions won 30,000 SAR each. The virtual space celebrated the success with fireworks enhanced with sound elements along with a 30,000 SAR reveal on stage. Tech Champions is an icon representing MCIT’s vision in empowering a digital Saudi and the choice of Mimic as a platform for the showcased MCIT’s continuous forward movement in showcasing innovation in the digital world.
